Not only does regular exercise lower stress levels, it also enhances your mood and promotes weight loss. Start and stay with a fitness routine to get your heart pumping, burn calories and reduce stress this holiday season!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. Eat a balanced diet. Stress can occur by overeating or under eating over the holidays making you feel more tired, anxious or lethargic than usual. Load Up on Vitamin C&lt;br /&gt;One of the best ways to immunize yourself against health problems over the winter season is with a healthy diet. Try to eat more servings of fresh fruits and vegetables during the colder months, and pick foods that have the highest nutritional content whenever possible.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. Sanitize Your Work Space Regularly&lt;br /&gt;Whether you work in a cubicle, share an office space or work from home, take steps to kill of germs that can accumulate on your keyboard, mouse and other office equipment. Sanitizing wipes can help you get rid of germs in a flash throughout the day.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. Keep Up with Your Workout Regimen&lt;br /&gt;When it's too cold to go running outside or participate in outdoor sports, make sure you're still getting some daily exercise with an indoor routine. Too much stress can seriously interfere with your ability to perform&lt;br /&gt;effectively. The art of stress management is to keep yourself at a level of stimulation that is healthy and enjoyable. Most people realize that aspects of their work and lifestyle can cause stress.&lt;br /&gt;While this is true, it is also important to note that it can be caused by your&lt;br /&gt;environment and by the food and drink you consume. There are several major&lt;br /&gt;sources of stress:&lt;br /&gt;Survival Stress: this may occur in cases where your survival or health is&lt;br /&gt;threatened, where you are put under pressure, or where you experience some&lt;br /&gt;unpleasant or challenging event. Here adrenaline is released in your body and&lt;br /&gt;you experience all the symptoms of your body preparing for 'fight or flight'.&lt;br /&gt;Internally Generated Stress: this can come from anxious worrying about events&lt;br /&gt;beyond your control, from a tense, hurried approach to life, or from relationship&lt;br /&gt;problems caused by your own behavior. I want to eliminate all of the highest allergy risk foods, in phase 1.  Also, peanuts aren't as high in omega 3 fatty acids.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Why is olive oil bad to use in cooking?&lt;br /&gt;Olive oil has a lower smoke point than other oils like palm or coconut oil. The smoke point is when an oil turns into a hydrogenated oil (aka Trans Fat). Coconut oil, on the other hand, doesn't require you to cook at such aggressive temperatures. Cooking at lower temperatures also helps to preserve the enzymes in the food, that help aid in the digestion process. Olive Oil is good for drizzling on foods and okay if you cook under the 350*F mark.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I thought Saturated Fat was bad for your cholesterol levels. How is Coconut oil good for you, if it has high amounts of saturated fat?&lt;br /&gt;I always preach moderation is the key element to always remember. Saturated fat is fat from animals and plants. We as humans were meant to eat plants and animals. We were not designed to digest and convert refined foods into nutrients. Eating moderate levels of the good saturated fats actually has numerous benefits to our health. The good fats make up the cell membrane of all cells in our body. I'm not a fan of eating spoon fulls of coconut oil daily, like you may read is good for your health; too much of a good thing can be bad. It is the trans fats (hydrogenated fats) that are really harmful to our body. Hydrogenated fats mean that the fat molecule is surrounded by hydrogen atoms. Anything can bind or link to a hydrogen atom. This results in fats clinging to everything in your body. Trans fats are found in a lot of refined products.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Why is cow's dairy not in phase 1, but there are goat products?&lt;br /&gt;Studies show goat products are the closest thing to your mother's milk. Most people aren't sensitive to goat products like they are to cow products. The pasteurization process of cow's dairy, to meet FDA standards, strips all the essential nutrients needed for good digestion. Probiotics are the good bacteria found in the large intestine, which break down your food. Your food has to be broken down, so you can absorb the nutrients through the intestinal wall. When killing the bad bacteria that may be in the milk, they also kill all of the good bacteria. This makes it hard for the human body to digest cow's milk products.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Why is aspartame bad?&lt;br /&gt;Splenda is made from methanol, aspartic acid, and phenylalanine. When methanol is heated, like in the body, it is converted to formaldehyde. This is the fluid used to preserve dead bodies. High amounts of methanol cause blindness or neurological damage. The best sweeteners are all natural. These include Stevia, Agave Nectar and Honey.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Is Sugar-Free and Fat-Free food Healthy?&lt;br /&gt;Anytime a product says sugar free or fat free, but still taste good, more than likely there is some kind of chemical substitute that has been used. These chemicals trigger your pancreas and brain to react the same way, as if it were real sugar. Reduced fat or sugar products are typically the same way. Best rule of thumb: Eat Living Foods that haven't been altered! Not Processed!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Why is decaffeinated coffee and tea bad?&lt;br /&gt;The process that is used to decaffeinate tea and coffee is all chemical. If you have to have that warm cup of "Pick Me Up" make it the real thing. Add 1 cup water.  Simmer for 10 minutes.  Strain beans over a bowl and reserve the liquid.  Discard rosemary and garlic.  Puree 2 cups cooked beans with 1 cup reserved liquid.  Combine puree with rest of liquid and whole beans in pot.  Heat and stir briefly. Remind your children to wash their hands often with soap and hot water, especially after sneezing, coughing, or close contact with an infected person. Alcohol-based hand soaps, like Purell, can also help when soap and water aren't around.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Eat your veggies.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It’s old advice, but the message is still a good one. Colorful fruits and vegetables are an excellent source of vitamins and beneficial phytochemicals, including antioxidants and other disease-fighting substances. Encouraging fruits and veggies will also help your child maintain a healthy weight. If your kids balk at the thought of beets, cabbage, and pears, try strawberries, sweet potatoes, and clementines. Add blueberries and strawberries to their favorite cereal mix raisins and raspberries into a salad, or top off their boring turkey sandwich with cranberries or apples. And healthier foods for your kids doesn’t have to mean extra costs for you.  Stick to your grocery budget by buying in bulk, trying frozen produce, and buying in season.  Also make sure they are taking a whole food multi-vitamin if they are not getting adequate nutrients from eating as many fruits and veggies as they should. Choline has another interesting property in that it aids the body in the metabolism of fats. If choline is lacking, fats accumulate in the liver. . .Sauerkraut also contains acetylcholine which has a powerful effect on the parasympathetic nervous system. It helps reduce blood pressure, slows down the rate of heartbeat, and promotes calmness and sleep. As acetylcholine is destroyed by cooking, raw sauerkraut and its juice is preferable to cooked. Acetylcholine also has a beneficial effect on the peristaltic movements of the intestine. Dr. Hunter and I have made our New Years resolution to run our first marathon. We have recruited a team of about 10 runners so far. Everyone is training in different locations, and we cannot wait to get together April 26 to see how far we have come! The Music City Marathon travels throughout downtown Nashville with the streets chocked full of amazing bands, new artists, and party-goers who will watch us drag our butts across that finish line! We are running for Team ChiroFit if anyone wants to join. You need to already be running the first of the year in order to train for a full marathon. For those of you looking to run the half, you can train in 2-3 months EASILY! We are following the Novice 1 training schedule from halhigdon.com. &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;We encourage everyone to set their goals for this year whether it be running a marathon or something  far different. See what you are made of. You can do anything you put your mind to. We have never run long distance before, and in 2 weeks we are able to run 7 miles while talking...and even LAUGHING!!! There is no better feeling than taking control of your life and your health. No Doctor or friend can restore your health. You must want it and work for it....everything else is a cake walk if you have your health! &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Please call our office for further questions about the marathon, the team, training, or to find a running partner.
